DISTILLING BRAND & IDENTITY DESIGN CASE STUDY
With increased interest in small-batch liquors, the demand for craft spirits in America is growing. This means that many new distillers will be starting from scratch. Although the production of a high-quality product is important, it is also critical to develop a strong brand out of the gate.
At 88 Design Group, we focus on the origins of your brand story, while also considering the vision for your business as it grows. Our goal is to convey the craftsmanship and effort you put into your spirits while positioning your identity for growth through each phase of your brand development.
ABOUT INDEPENDENT SPIRITS DISTILLING
Independent Spirits Distilling’s brand was developed for use by Grandstand in demonstrating its product and retail capabilities for the Distilling industry.
The essence of the distillery brand focuses on using local ingredients in producing small-batch products. Whether located in the Great Plains or in the foothills, there is an independent spirit in all of us.
PRIMARY BRAND: Independent Spirits Distilling
Considering the brand, a modern take on a frontier look was desired. A logo type was selected for the primary identity, providing a clean visual direction that conveys the purity of the distillation process throughout its products.
For the individual craft spirits, elements symbolic to nature and the environment served as inspiration. Like the bison that roamed the tallgrass prairie, our rye whiskey celebrates those that live wild and free. Our gin takes you on a botanical journey, inspired by the monarch butterfly’s migration.
PRAIRIE RESERVE RYE WHISKEY
Thoughtful brand development made scaling the logo and individual product icons to glassware, apparel and promotional products an efficient process. A variety of on-trend items were chosen to appeal to buyers and therefore increase retail sales.
